DESCRIPTION
Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Zoysia Grass Seed & Mulch can withstand almost any challenge. This seed thrives in heat, drought, and partial shade while also having the ability to survive colder temperatures. The mulch-seed combination works to grow a tough, durable, low-maintenance lawn. Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Zoysia Grass Seed & Mulch is designed for full sun and light shade, and has a medium bladed texture with medium to high drought resistance. Use to seed a new lawn or overseed an existing lawn. For best results, apply in late spring or early summer when air temperatures are consistently between 70°F and 90°F and the danger of frost has passed. We recommend using a Scotts® spreader to apply this product (please refer to spreader settings on product label). Water daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall. One 5 lb. bag of Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Zoysia Grass Seed & Mulch has a new lawn coverage of 665 sq. ft. and an overseeding coverage of 2,000 sq. ft.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
How to Use
New Lawn
1. PREP
- Rake area to loosen the top layer of soil (approximately 2” deep) and remove any dead grass or debris, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.
2. APPLY
- Apply using a Scotts® spreader.
3. RAKE
- Lightly rake the seed into the soil to ensure seed is covered just beneath the soil surface. For best results, apply Scotts® Turf Builder® Starter® Food for New Grass.
4. WATER
- Water daily to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall.
Overseeding
1. PREP
- Mow lawn at the lowest setting and bag the clippings. Rake to remove debris, dead grass, and loosen the soil, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.
2. APPLY
- Apply using a Scotts® spreader.
3. RAKE
- Lightly rake the seed into the soil to ensure seed is covered just beneath the soil surface. For best results, apply Scotts® Turf Builder® Starter® Food for New Grass.
4. WATER
- Water daily to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall.
WHEN AND WHERE TO USE
When to Apply
- Spring and early summer are the best times to plant, because seed germinates best anytime temperatures are between 70°F and 90°F and all danger of frost has passed.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Watering Tips
- For best results, water twice daily for at least 3 weeks.
- Automatic timers can help ensure no essential waterings are missed.
Using with Other Products
- Do not apply weed control products until the grass is well established (mowed at least 4 times).
- Additionally, if you recently used a weed control product, refer to those product instructions to determine how soon you can plant grass seed.
